7.7.17  KidSummer - Birding 101 - Cape Cod Museum of Natural History
Brewster, MA

On our last morning together we had the threat of rain on the way.  It was a bit drizzly as we started off on the Lee Baldwin Trail for our bird walk, but I wanted to be outside for as long as we could be.  Not everyone is familiar with the trail on the south side of 6A (Lee Baldwin Trail) & I love it for a lot of reasons.  The viewing platform is a must do for any nature lover.  We stationed ourselves there for a time, listening to the birds, watching their behaviors in and around the saltmarsh and discussing bird-themed information.  We measured our "wingspans" & tested our arms to see how tiring it was to flap our arms like wings.  Birds work very hard when they're flying and it requires much energy.

As soon as the rain began to get heavier, we headed inside the museum to have our own tour of the great place.  I love pointing out NatureScape Gallery, which is inside the auditorium.  So many folks completely miss this due to it's placement on the inside wall.  I hope these bird nerds revisit the museum in the future & that they remember to check out which artist is being showcased next.  The photos tell the rest of our story.  I look forward to hearing back from a bird nerd or two and learning what they've seen and heard on their nature adventures.  This was a really fun bunch of KidSummer Kids!  Many thanks to Georgia as well for all of the help she provided this week!
