11.1.16 Tuesday Tweets - John Wing Trail - Cape Cod Museum of Natural History
Brewster, MA

November... I was hoping for migrants, at least a few different species, and with no breeze to make flying potentially treacherous... well why not?  I was hoping... We heard many different species, many familiar, though we didn't SEE as many as I would've liked.(I not only list birds we see, but also what we hear)  Once we reached the shore, I felt kinda like we hit the jackpot.  It's easy to feel that way when you're pausing life for a few minutes to take in Cape Cod Bay, to let it drench your senses.

I cannot imagine living far from the ocean, which is exactly why I moved here just fifteen years ago.  Cape Cod Bay has filled a section of my soul since I can remember and when you are surrounded by bird lovers who feel the very same way about the view, why leave? If only we could stay for just a while longer, and many do!  One of the things that Tuesday Tweets does, is offer an hour...occasionally more than that, to become immersed in nature in Brewster Massachusetts.  I highly recommend it on this lovely trail at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.  Be it Tuesday Tweets, Mudflat Mania or Family Field Walks in the summer months, this trail does not disappoint, even when the birds are being rather shy.

For me, these mornings are Tuesday TREATS.  I look forward to walking and talking with those of you who return each week and share your bird stories and other great stories while we're enjoying our nature walk.  I was able to sneak in some moments with Joan, who returns when she can, about how I'll think of something or see something while we're out there walking...if I forget to write it down, I just don't remember, because once I'm back in the car and on to the next stage of the day... my brain is too cluttered to retain it...it's forgotten.

Nature has a funny way of doing that when you give yourself some time to hang out with her.  A breeze is on your face, you smell the change of the season, the leaves are crunching under your boots... then you see a bird fly by - and she calls out, and you have your moment...the clutter fades.  What bird is that?  I need to know... and that's why we spend this time together.  That's how I feel about it.  (double click photos to enlarge)
