8.9.18 - KidSummer - Birding 101 - Cape Cod Museum of Natural History
Brewster, MA

If you're a Bird Nerd and you've visited the museum, then you know what a draw Bird Alley is.  We began our time together here and I asked the Bird Nerds to choose a bird to sketch and I gave them about 20 minutes to do so.  Wait until you see their efforts.  Kids' designs and artistic abilities truly fascinate me and I always wonder which bird they'll choose, given the seemingly endless choices available.  If you check out the photos below, please don't miss their spectacular work.

Today of all days, weather was a serious factor in that we could not go on our normal bird walk considering the wild storms outside.  The thunder was rumbling when everyone was getting dropped off, and the wild lightning and insane amount of rain continued throughout our time together.  The best seat in the house, the Marshview Room was our other indoor destination this morning.  It really is baffling how some birds continue to battle the elements, even when it's a rainy river outside.  These hearty species were snagging some food from the bird feeders and the Bird Nerds did get some observational birdwatching in.
